Hello!! Interesting title, right? Anyways, this weeks blog topic is about Presidents Day (which is next week). Our current President is Donald Trump. He hasn't been in office very long, but so far he's made some... interesting decisions. I think three traits a president should have are honesty, kind-hearted, and just a little bit of humor.
Honesty. Maybe one of the most important traits. Obviously you can't trust someone if they lie to you, so I think a president should be honest. Not only to his/her country, but to other politicians. I don't think they should make things dramatic or nasty, just be honest. It would make most people if not all feel more secure and safe. I think everyone just wants to know they're president isn't lying to them, cause thats not really a good sign.
Being nice. This is also super important. And I get it, with as much responsibility as a president has, sometimes you just have to do it, nice or not. But I think if you try your best to be nice and respect other people, you can't go wrong. Also, people would just like you more, and it would help bring smiles to the country.
And on occasion, some humor. But like I said, ON OCCASION. I don't think any president should joke around too much, since their job is very very serious. But at silly holiday events or charity stuff, a little humor wouldn't hurt. Just to bring out some laughs and give everybody good time.
A president has a very tough job, but what makes a good president (to me) is honesty, kind-heartedness, and a couple jokes now and then. Hopefully our presidents to come have these traits.
1! Get it? Cause of the title. Anyways, hi! I'm glad your back. This weeks blog topic is about morning announcements. We've been doing the morning announcements the "new way" for awhile now. And it is challenging. But thats good. I think this challenge is good for us. As far as our audience, I think if we make interesting scripts, add in some "new stuff", and talk about things students like, our show will be that much better.
Scripts. I think we should make sure our scripts are grammatically correct and stuff, but also interesting for the students. I think if we change up the wording or just kinda relax a little, kids might be a little more interested or excited to watch.
Adding something... "new". Our current announcement set up is awesome, but maybe adding a new opening or new music would catch some eyes. I want to try to work on a new opening, but adding in new features could also "spice up" our show. I think birthdays and quote of the days are pretty popular among students, so maybe we should add in some similar stuff.
And once again, catching the eyes of students. When we make announcements about events, I think we should look for ones that relate to students. Dances, surf competitions, events at the mall, movies, etc. Then, maybe kids would watch more so they don't miss anything, and they would be excited to watch since we are talking about things they like.
I think our morning announcements show is pretty good right now. But maybe changing some things up could enhance the overall appeal.
Hola!! This weeks blog topic is about how we (as students) can go from good, to great. Mr. M says this phrase a lot, and this week he has asked us to explain three ways we can go from good to great in the third quarter. I think if I turn in scripts on time, work extra hard on my PSA, and work on perfecting my radios, this quarter will be amazing.
First of all, finishing morning announcement scripts on time. Morning announcements can be stressful, especially as an announcer. If your scripts aren't done until the morning of, all chaos will break out. In quarter three I'm going to try my best to make sure my scripts are done ahead of time. This way, things will go as smoothly as possible, and our announcements show will look fantastic!! (and hopefully I won't embarrass myself)
Second of all, my PSA!! This is the first time I will be working alone on a project, and I really want to show my skills. I want to get a good head start, and really try my best. Get good shots, have a solid idea, and just really make my video interesting. I've learned so much from my awesome partner Mia and I want to show it. I'm going to give it 120%!!
And lastly, radios. I actually really like doing inside scoops. But I have some small problems. For one, I'm not the best at writing scripts. My scripts are pretty generic sometimes, so I'm going to work on being more creative with them. Also, editing. I always write and record scripts, and then completely forget to edit them. Not sure how, but I definitely need to fix that.
I can't believe how fast the year is going by, but I'm excited to see what quarter 3 brings. I'm sure if I try my best, I'll be allllllll good... right?
Hola!! This weeks blog topic is about the morning announcements. For not much preparation time, I think we are doing pretty alright. But it could definitely be better. I think if we show up early to practice, get our scripts done on time, and look alive we’ll be just fine.
We’ve always known showing up early is important because of practicing, but now that we have to produce and announce we have a lot more work to do. In this case, none of us are "returnees" so we all need practice to figure things out. Showing up early to practice is essential so we know our script and have a good head start on practicing.
Scripts. This one is simple. No scripts=no announcements. If we don't get our scripts done on time then we have to do them during the time we should be practicing. Then we don't have time to practice. Then the announcements are sloppy etc.. If we can get our scripts done early theres no stress and o problems.
LOOKING ALIVE. I haven't actually announced yet, but I know it can be kinda stressful. Your announcing in front of the ENTIRE school. So its ok to be nervous... but not dead. So just remember to smile a little bit, maybe add in some interesting sentence starters. Have fun with it.
I think if we can get these few things down, we'll put on a great show!!
Hola!! First things first HAPPY NEW YEAR!! I hope you and your family had a wonderful holiday break and are ready to jump back into school. Anyways this weeks blog topic is about my goals for third quarter. As far as my second quarter goals I think I did pretty well. I definitely worked with Mia A LOT and I think she did a really good job of teaching me. Our overall project came out pretty well so I say quarter two was a success!
My first goal for quarter three is to meet deadlines!! OK, so last quarter I may not have been the best at meeting deadlines BUT, it's a new quarter and I have a fresh slate. I'm ready to work and break this bad habit. This is also very important since I will be working alone this quarter. But I know I can do it if I focus.
I also really want to work on improving my radios. My radio scripts are often to short or to long. I also think that I could use the script writing/editing practice. My radios from the past aren't bad, but I struggled a little bit to get there. I think if get an early start and really take the time to time my scripts I'll be just fine.
My last goal for this quarter is to do well as an anchor on the morning announcements. From working with the leadership kids, I know how important it is to have scripts on time and make sure they are interesting etc.. But I haven't actually had to announce myself. I'm kinda nervous but mostly excited. As long as I work with Mia to make interesting scripts (on time) I think things will go smoothly.
With hard work and some determination, I think I will be able to work really well this quarter on radios, announcements, and deadlines.
Hola!! This weeks free blog is about the Iphone 7 plus. Ok, so its not that "new" anymore but it is still relevant. Anyways the iPhone 7 plus has 2 CAMERAS!! 2!! Isn't that kinda cool? Anywyas I'm not quite sure why there is 2 but I know it improves the quality of the pictures you take. Although I don't have an iPhone 7 plus i think that these can be really helpful when taking good quality pictures on the go.
Hola!! This weeks blog topic is about THIRD QUARTER PROJECTS!! I AM VERY EXCITED. Our third quarter projects are PSA's (also known as public service announcements.) I will also be woring on this project completely alone. Scary, but I'M STILL VERY EXCITED.
My first idea was about anti-smoking. I think cigarettes are a really bad thing and are very bad for your health. I also think that the more anti-smoking ads there are, the less people will smoke. I though tabout a lot of different ideas for this topic, but overall decided it wasn't for me.
My next idea was about animal abuse. I always see those sad dog commercials on tv, with the depressing music and the slow motion shots of dogs looking all sad and hungry, and I thought that I could do something like that. I live pretty close by the humane society so I have good acess to filming the animals, and I thought that the workers might even have some facts that I could use in a voice over. But, I didn't really like that idea.
Then, I hit the jackpot. Hold up. Before I start talking about my big idea, I know it sounds kinda generic but it's gonna be really good in the end, just trust me on this one. Ok, so I thought about making a PSA about self confidence. A lot of kids (especially my age) struggle with self confidence. I think that social media and society can really impact the way kids think, and how they feel about their physical appearance. After thinking about it for awhile, I started to kind of plan it out in my head. I want the finished product to be a suprise, so I won't give away much, but be excited.
Although I will miss working with Mia, I am very excited to start working on my PSA. I'm also very interested in seeing what my classmates come up with. I can't wait!!
Hola!! This weeks free blog in about Katy Perry's new song "Rise". I personally, am not a big fan of the song. But, they used this song for a "promo" sorta thing for the 2016 Rio Olympics. And it looks... REALLY, cool. They used old clips from past Olympics (from all sports) and some other cool clips from Rio to make a kind of inspirational promotional video. In a way, it's kinda like a convention recap. Anyways, I thought they angles and editing were really well done, and went a long with the music really nicely. Go check it out!! (even though they Olympics were like forever ago.)
Hola!! This weeks blog topic is another project update. I have been having a lot of fun working on this news story with Mia. So far we are pretty on top of it, but we plan to film about 2 more interviews and we still need to edit a little.
All quarter, Mia and I have been doing pretty good with keeping on track with our project. We started the 5W's, 5 Points, and T.I.A.'s pretty early and got our scripts done on time. But we didn't really start editing until like last week. Oops. But we have one rough cut and are working on a second one.
We also started shooting interviews really early. Because of that we didn't have very many porblems with footage. We had the occasional need of b-roll, but other than that we are sailing smoothly. We also had the privilege to interview a lot of people close to Dennis. So as far as filiming, we are all set.
With only a few weeks of school left, I hope Mia and I can pull through a great video. I can't wait until I get to do another news story next year!
Hola!! This weeks free blog is about filming interviews outside. While Mia and I were filming interviews for our second quarter project, we had a few problems finding good backrounds, and when we did the lighting was either to harsh in the backround or made their faces to dark. I was also looked ahead to quarter 3 and wanted to film some outdoor shots for my project. So, I thought that this would be a perfect blog tpoic. Anyways, I found an article on the "Big League Film School" website that is actually pretty helpful. I think if I find a good backround that the outdoor shots I use for my PSA will look awesome. Check it out down below!!
